Aster NYC Hudson (1983) Resonator Whistle
Factory Whistle
The Aster Hudson came equipped with a whistle valve in the cab and tubular whistle under the engine.
Resonator Whistle
The resonator whistle for the Aster Hudson is a two tone whistle. This whistle is designed to be a bolt on replacement replacing the left (fireman) side rear air tank under the running board. The forward tank is the displacement steam oil lubricator. The replacement tank is partitioned into two resonators and is driven by two aperture assemblies fed through a manifold. The aperture assemblies extend from the tank inward toward the locomotive centerline between the second and third axle.
Installation
Installation involves removing the existing tank and disconnecting the whistle valve to whistle tube at the original whistle. Then connect the supplied silicone tubing to the old whistle tube end. Connect other end of silicone tube to inlet manifold on the resonator whistle assembly. Bolt resonator tank to underside of right side running board.
